Where Logos Go on Metal Hardware
Almost any metal component can carry a logo:

The Main Logo Techniques
Laser Engraving
A laser burns the design into the metal surface. No tooling cost, fast turnaround, works from a vector file — ideal for sampling, small batches and variable text (serial numbers, limited editions). Depth is shallow, so on high-wear parts the mark can soften over years.
Engraving (CNC / Mechanical)
A cutting tool carves the logo into the metal, producing crisp, deep lines that outlast the product. More durable than laser and with a premium "cut" look. Requires machine setup per design, so it suits medium-to-large runs.
Embossing / Debossing (Stamped)
The logo is pressed into (debossed) or raised out of (embossed) the metal using a steel die. Tooling cost is higher, but unit cost drops sharply at volume, and the three-dimensional result is unmistakably premium. This is how most luxury hardware logos are made.
Cast-In Logos
For die-cast or investment-cast parts, the logo is built into the mold itself — the logo and the part are born together. Zero per-piece logo cost at volume and impossible to wear off, but requires committing to custom tooling.

Preparing Your Logo File
Suppliers will ask for a vector file (AI, EPS, PDF or DXF). To make the process smooth:
- Convert all text to outlines — font files cause endless back-and-forth
- Simplify fine details — lines thinner than about 0.15 mm fill in or disappear at hardware scale
- Decide on positive vs. negative — raised logo on recessed background reads better at small sizes than the reverse
- Provide a size reference — state the exact width in millimeters; "small" means different things to different factories
Cost and Lead Time Reality
Laser engraving adds almost nothing to unit cost and can be sampled in days. Embossing dies typically cost tens to a few hundred dollars and take one to two weeks — then the per-piece premium is negligible. Custom cast parts need mold investment and three to four weeks for first samples. In all cases, approve a physical sample with your logo before authorizing production.
