Quality Control
Is there a standard for magnetic snap strength? Do magnets weaken over time?
Yes, holding force is a specified and tested parameter. We state the holding force in kilograms for every magnetic snap, verified per batch with a pull gauge — standard bag magnets range from about 2 to 6 kg, and we tune the grade and diameter to your flap weight and leather thickness. We use neodymium magnets that lose less than 1% of strength over ten years under normal conditions, so weakening in use is not a real concern. What does fail on cheap magnets is corrosion: ours are nickel-plated and sealed, then salt spray tested with the finished product.
What should we do if we find defective pieces after receiving the goods?
Contact us with photos and quantities — we respond within 24 hours on working days. Minor issues within normal AQL tolerance are usually resolved with a credit or free replacement pieces in your next order; if a batch problem exceeds the agreed defect threshold, we remake and ship replacements at our cost, including freight. Claims are much easier when raised within 30 days of receipt, so we recommend inspecting goods on arrival. Every claim triggers an internal corrective action report, so the same defect cannot quietly repeat on your next order.
Above what defect rate can we get replacement or refund?
Our standard commitment follows AQL 2.5 sampling: if the defect rate found at your incoming inspection or by a third-party inspector exceeds the AQL acceptance limit — roughly 2.5% for major defects — you are entitled to free replacement of the defective quantity including freight, or a proportional refund, your choice. Critical defects such as sharp edges or functional failure are not accepted at any rate. These terms are written into the purchase contract before production, so there is no negotiation needed when a problem occurs. In practice our shipped defect rate runs well below the threshold.
Do you have ISO 9001 or similar quality management certification?
Our factory operates under a documented quality management system built on ISO 9001 principles — incoming material verification, in-process inspection at every stage, final AQL 2.5 pre-shipment inspection, and traceable batch records from raw material to carton. Where third-party proof is needed, we support factory audits by SGS, BV, TÜV or Intertek arranged by your team, and provide product-level test reports for every order on request. We believe the reports and audit results attached to your specific orders matter more to your compliance file than a framed certificate — ask our team for the current audit documentation.
Do you do 100% inspection or sampling inspection? What AQL standard do you use?
Both, at different stages. Moving parts such as locks, magnetic snaps and automatic buckles receive 100% functional checks, and plating appearance is fully inspected at the finishing line. The final pre-shipment inspection then follows AQL 2.5 sampling against your signed golden sample, covering dimensions, finish, color and function. Small or high-value orders can be upgraded to full 100% final inspection on request. Third-party inspection by SGS, BV, TÜV or Intertek is welcome before balance payment. Details are on our quality assurance page.
Compliance & Certifications
Is your plating process environmentally friendly? Does wastewater treatment meet regulations?
Yes. Our plating and PVD facilities operate under Chinese environmental permits with dedicated wastewater treatment — heavy metals are precipitated and filtered before discharge, and treatment systems are inspected by local environmental authorities. PVD coating itself is a dry vacuum process with essentially no liquid effluent, making it the cleanest coloring technology available for hardware. For brands with strict supply-chain environmental requirements, we can share our discharge permits and treatment documentation, and we welcome environmental audits arranged through your third-party inspector.
What compliance documents are needed for exporting to the US and EU? Can you provide them?
Yes — we provide the full standard set: commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, and packaging declarations where required. On the product compliance side we arrange third-party test reports for your specific materials and finishes — nickel release (EN 1811), REACH SVHC screening, lead and cadmium content for Proposition 65 — plus material certificates per batch. Most US and EU importers clear our shipments with exactly this documentation set. Tell us your destination market at the quotation stage and we will list every document your customs broker or retailer will ask for.
Can you do nickel-free plating? Does it affect the color?
Yes, and the visual difference is minimal. We run dedicated nickel-free plating lines using white bronze or palladium-based underlayers instead of nickel, and our PVD coatings are inherently nickel-free. Colors like gold, rose gold and gunmetal match their nickel-plated equivalents closely enough that only a spectrophotometer notices; we supply both versions as samples so you can compare. Nickel-free processing costs slightly more, and we recommend it as the default for any hardware touching skin — it future-proofs your products against tightening EU regulations, and nickel-free is a selling point in itself.
Do your products contain lead, cadmium or other heavy metals? Can you provide test reports?
Our stainless steel and brass hardware is produced to meet EU REACH and California Proposition 65 limits for lead and cadmium, and we can arrange third-party heavy-metal test reports through accredited labs such as SGS or Intertek for your specific order. Reports are issued against the actual production material and finish, not generic certificates, so they hold up at customs and with retail compliance teams. If your market has specific thresholds — for example children’s products or skin-contact items — tell us at the quotation stage and we will confirm the testing plan before production.
